Hollie A. Lai, MD, is the Director of Nuclear Medicine at Children's Health of Orange County (CHOC) and a Clinical Professor (Volunteer) of Radiological Sciences at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine. Before CHOC, she was the Director of Nuclear Medicine at Children's Hospital Los Angeles for 12 years. While there, she developed a very successful diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine program. Her passion for pediatric nuclear medicine drew her to her current position at CHOC, where she developed a successful nuclear medicine program. The launching of CHOC's Nuclear Medicine program in December 2021 essentially completed the Radiology Department. From fiscal years 2019 through 2022, when CHOC relied on St. Joseph Hospital for nuclear medicine services, annual volume averaged 428. In the fiscal year 2022 at CHOC, the volume totaled 692, with the fiscal year 2023 projected to total 1,222, based on the new program going live through February 2022. Multi-boarded in Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostic Radiology with CAQs (Certificates of Added Qualification) in Pediatric Radiology and Neuroradiology allows her to incorporate and apply her unique skill set to each field. Dr. Lai has been a member of SNMMI since 2002 and was one of SNMMI's first Value Initiative Transformative Leaders. She is currently a member of the SNMMI Pediatric Imaging Council and a SPR Nuclear Medicine Committee member. She is one of the American Board of Nuclear Medicine Directors. Dr. Lai is an active Children's Oncology Group member and a central reviewer for their Neuroblastoma, Lymphoma, and brain tumor studies. She has served as Secretary, Treasurer, and President for the Western Neuroradiological Society and is a current member of the American Society of Neuroradiology Finance and Audit committees.
